Saimoe 2011 – War between the Puella Magis and the Resistance

A war has been settled between two competing factions. One is the overpowering Puella Magis, and the other is the Resistance which is composed of many aces from many series (lack of another dominant faction is key). Here’s the breakdown of these two factions.

Puella Magis:

Kaname Madoka: Super-spectacular Prelim win record, an average of 60%+ beatdown from Round 1 to 3

Akemi Homura: Spectacular vote totals on prelims, defeated by the Resistance via Mikoto Misaka.

Sayaka Miki: One of the highest vote totals in the tourney. Defeated Charlotte Dunois of IS, a stronghold member of the Resistance.

Tomoe Mami: Top Seed of the tourney. Vote totals plus Percentage would = Dominance. Recently got a win of 69-70% in Round 3 (Top 5 all time)

Kyouko Sakura: Performed a spectacular Round 2 beatdown with 68% (Top 10 all time).

Now for the resistance which consists of many aces of many different series. They have banded together for the goal of beating the Puella Magis, a feat only done by Sui Shijima and Mikoto Misaka.

Resistance:

Mikoto Misaka: 600+ vote totals in two of her rounds. Beated one of Puella Magis, Homura Akemi.

Kanade Tachibana: 500+ vote total on R!, owner of Block B since the beginning.

Elsie: High vote percentage total, the only character who even has a chance of beating Madoka.

Ika-Musume: Invading since Round 1. A 71% win in Round 3 says a lot.

Charlotte Dunois: Defeated by Miki Sayaka.

Kuroneko: Her matches causes a rise in vote totals. Has yet to be challenged seriously (Even in Round 1 by Sherlock).

 

My Favorites this Season of Anime so far. . .

Fate/Zero – While the first episode was a bit lukewarm, the second episode was fiery hot. I find myself rewatching this many times in its span of two episodes.

Chihayafuru – BLOWN AWAY. Literally.

Ben-To – It delivered as expected. I can’t wait on how funnier it will get.

Mirai Nikki – Wakamoto ex Machina.

Ika-Musume and Bakuman sequel – While I love how Ika-chan is still as funny as ever, I find it annoying that Bakuman is becoming better. But still kudos to these two.

I think its safe to say this season is pretty much a disappointment. I guess I over-hyped it a little too much. Fate/Zero has TV-wow quality but I expected it to look like KnK which it didn’t. Guilty Crown didn’t wow me as much as I thought. Kimi to Boku failed terribly and Majikoi was just good in episode 1. Horizon in the whatever is too confusing. Well there’s still a lot to like so I’m not TOO disappointed. I really want my Spring 2011 back where everything was just awesome.

*I’ll wait til Guilty Crown’s second episode, need to watch UN-GO too.

Shinryaku!? Ika Musume – 01

Besides some environmental issues I have with this episode (Tsukimi-tan would get mad at you folks) I must say, Ika-chan is back and as strong as ever. Sanae is still as obsessive as ever, Chizuru as scary, Eiko as naggy, and we even get to see Ika with her friends!

Also lol Horrible subs, how did de-geso turn into “squidding”? That’s it I’m using a new fansubber next week.

FALL SEASON PREVIEW

Welcome to Traveler On Revenge’s first seasonal preview.

I’d love to give every anime a chance but somehow I always only end up finishing about 15 series per season. A show must really pique my interest (or just plainly make me laugh) for me to watch it. Fortunately this season has truckloads, just like every season this year. Well, without further ado. . .

As much as I hated this adaptation, I’m sorta obliged to watch this. . . well simply because its my favorite manga of all time (well . . . close to it at least)

 

Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!!

Well I love Kimiaru but that’s just me. Personally, I think this will suck

Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle

Interest: 23/30

It looks and sounds really nice but its airing in NHK (educational/ makes things gay/the channel that airs Bakuman) and there’s something that makes me wary. Tentatively excited though.

Tamayura ~hitotose~

Interest: 24/30

Sounds K-On without music, but might turn out to be a reflective SoL. I didn’t watch the OVA so I don’t really know anything about this. Tentatively very excited.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

Interest: 25/30

I’ve turned into a tsundere at these things! I don’t even like admitting that I actually liked Oreimo (also stalled Denpa Onna only to watch it again and rate it highly). TERRIBLE (OMG I’m SO EXCITED) Light Novel Adaptation of the season.

 

C³ -C Cube

Interest: 25/30

The premise looks basic but this IS the studio that produced BakaTest, so I’m gonna watch this even if its just for some visual porn.

Last Exile -Ginyoku no Fam

They say that Last Exile was quite a masterpiece. I’ve personally never seen it myself but OH HECK I’m excited for this.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon

Kinda sounds like Index, CONFUSING TERMINOLOGIES FTW! Seriously though, this one might just turn awesome (the LN are like 2000+ pages long)

Mirai Nikki

It sounds like a really cool premise- OH WHAT THE HECK THERE’S A YANDERE MAIN CHARACTER HOW CAN YOU NOT GET EXCITED!!??!?!?!!?

Sounds like a very cool detective story. + its by BONES and airs on Noitamina. Not a bad deal I guess?

I’m kinda curious about this (sounds so Brotherhood). In any case, I don’t remember anything about Hunter X hunter (I watched it when I was like 6-oops I just spoiled my age I think) and this is a retelling so, EVERYONE EYES ON THIS!

Josei anime almost always mean FUCKYEAH this will be awesome. Adding the fact that I’ve heard a lot of good things about the material, I’m very excited. + its Madhouse with 25 episodes so [QUALITY ENSURED]

Saimoe Wars 2011 – Episode 16 Proper Post

INVASION HAS COME AND IT IS SWEET

Political Yaddayadda:

Successful fake vote tactic: The urgency of the K-On fans to vote lessened when they were fooled of Mio’s early vote counts. True enough, Mio was very far from Ika-chan causing a real invasion type win.

Styling: While the heated (not really) match of Ika-Musume was going on, we have a strong contender on the other side of the spectrum, in the form of Yuno. She really styled her match and I’m pretty sure no one really noticed. This is what HidaSketch always does. Win without getting noticed. Though this is the reason they were never considered a strong faction to begin with.

Effect of being assassinated: I’m pretty sure Mio has a lot of fans. It’s just that her Saimoe Career started horribly in 2009, being assassinated by Bossu. In 2010, she was just bused in the Azu-Biri match in round 3 which is pretty sad.  Her potential never really came to be.

Next match preview:

Episode 10 is back after being postponed for a few days. My prediction would be Mio, Chizuru and Menma while my picks would be Tomoe, Chizuru and Menma.

Akemi Homura of Puella Magi Madoka Magica fame notches first with 433 votes. Titular character Ika-Musume settles for second while Raildex’s main gun, Mikoto Misaka, disappointingly settles for third. Aragaki Ayase of Ore no Imouto notches fourth while Misaka #10032 gets fifth.

Madoka Magica overwhelmes this match; Akemi Homura completely homeruns this round. Ika-Musume proves to be a major threat while Mikoto Misaka’s power have somehow mysteriously weakened. Still minor character Misaka Imouto is on fifth which proves Raildex’s dominance in this tourney. Ore no Imouto is proving to be quite a scare, three minor characters (Ayase, Saori and Sena) have magically made into the top 12. Steins;Gate wasn’t completely left out with Amane Suzuha getting a decent score but more analysis is needed.

Comments: OUCH BIRIBIRI?!?!?!?! What the hell happened? Oh well, I’m glad Homura and Ika-musume did outstandingly in this round. Especially Homura, PMMM! will definitely be scary this year. I can’t wait for Kuroneko’s match though since signs are saying Oreimo will obliterate the tourney. At least I didn’t get to eat cardboard but if Misaka Imouto got 60 more votes, I might just have.

Who do I think will win the next match:

Hanasaku Iroha’s Ohana or K-On!’s Mugi. We’ll finally be able to see Kissuiso’s power, though it probably won’t be much. There’s also A-channel’s Run but A-channel offended me so much, I don’t even want to consider it.

My TOP 7 of Saimoe 2010

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Well one of the highlights of my life as an avid anime fan is when the season of Saimoe begins. It is a treat to see characters that I like kill each other in a bloody, political, and engrossing competition where one girl is left alive snacking the crown. My top character last year, Mikoto Misaka, lost early in the third round by none other than eventual winner, Azusa Nakano. Her defeat was not a shame though, more of an inspiration because she left with a staggering 1000+ votes. Also it is to be considered that she is the only one who got close to beating Azunyan even until the finals (Not counting the Mio votes of course which might have went to Azunyan if it wasn’t for that stupid three way battle idea) and she is fresh this year, with Index II and the Railgun OVA, to kill.

My TOP 7 characters this year would include Mikoto Misaka of To aru Majutsu no Index II(the obvious), Ika-musume from Shinryaku! Ika-Musume(One of my top favorite characters all time, Birbiri also included there), Kuronuma Sawako of Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season, Makise Kurisu of Steins;Gate, Tamura Manami from Ore no Imouto, Anjou Naruko from Anohana, and of course Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Birbiri and Ika-chan are obviously my priorities but basically these are my top 7.
