[Remembering Love] – Kimi ni Todoke

Well Trzr23 put us all up to this so might as well put my own Remembering Love post. Coincidentally, I have been rewatching quite a number of anime from Brotherhood, Haruhi and Kimi ni Todoke. I have an easy time explaining my love for Brotherhood and Haruhi but Kimi ni Todoke was different. Thinking about it, why did I like this series so much?

Besides the RAW emotions it manages to bring out of me, whether it was “DAAAW Sawako”or “Die in a blazing fire UMMMEEEE“, Kimi ni Todoke stood out of all the other shoujo series because of one simple thing which is . . . well simplicity.

Everything Kimi ni Todoke does is basic. It takes off all the stupid gimmickry and just focuses on either its romance, comedy or drama. It’s incredibly pure too, which most series lack these days. When you describe shoujo, Kimi ni Todoke is the epitome of it.

Take for example, the three episode arc wherein Yano and Yoshida started doubting that Sawako likes them because of a rumor. Everything that happened in those three episodes was incredibly normal for a high school setting (something most series tend to forget) and it really developed those three’s friendship. Some people would call this “dragging” because  it’s stretched but I call it “pure development”. They didn’t use cheap tricks (well there were misunderstandings but then again completely normal), they just went with the flow on how high school friends would sort things out.

The main couple of this series is obviously Sawako and Kazehaya. The development of their relationship is painfully slow, looking at it by episodes, but thinking about it, it didn’t really take them that much time to finally realize they like each other. It’s like subjective and objective. There’s some things you can’t see when you’re too close (like the lovebirds budding relationship) and there’s some things you can’t see when you’re too far (how slow their relationship feels but the time is actually fast (especially by the second season)).

With these points of view in mind, Kimi ni Todoke becomes a really lovely anime; one that stands at the top of shoujo romances. It’s really sweet remembering my love for this thing (or all the UMEEEE rages).

Things are gonna be slightly slow in this site but I am still alive.

I’m probably not gonna make another one Remembering Love post (Trzr23 suggested 3-4 posts) though since as fun as rewatching is, it’s TOO time consuming. Toodles to the other still on board with this project.

Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (END) 91 points

Lolhat ruined the epic screencap

Well, our weekly dose of sparkles, bubbles, kirakira, hatred, frustration, happiness, relief, and a good way to spend the middle of the week when stressing from homework has finally come to a close.

For an ending that wasn’t an ending in the manga (as I remember) this is pretty good. I thank Kurumi for the hatred she released from me and how the whole season was created from a line she said back in episode 1. I thank Kent for making the two confess (albeit frustratingly with the noYOUDON’TLIKEMEKAZEHAYASTOPMISUNDERSTANDING type) and liking Sawako. I thank Yano for being a good reminder that everyone in the series doesn’t misunderstand things. I thank Chizuru and Ryu for being a great sport though their relationship thrown aside for our main stars. I thank Pin for giving us the Unadulterated Kazehaya viewpoint. I will not thank Joe cus he’s retarded. For all the bystanders and side characters, thank you for not bullying my Sawako (except for those annoying Kurumi wannabees this episode). Of course Kazehaya for being man enough to actually confess to Sawako and to handle the situation in the last few episodes of this series without anymore misunderstandings. And of course our beloved kuro-hime, Yuuko potential, bubbles and sparkles all over, pure, innocent, kawaaiii, dawwww Sawako for being one of the best series in the Shoujo genre. I mean who can’t like her dammnit.

As for the episode itself, it was the best attempt Production IG could do since the manga wasn’t stopping at all. There are still a lot of lose ends like Ryu/Chizuru and Yano/Pin(ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww) and maybe Kurumi/Kent(though I just see them as failures bonding to share there faliureship) and of course I wanted to see more Kazehaya and Sawako out of school dating scenes. . . I’m doubtful for a third season but I guess I have to settle for this. If thinking rationally and Kimi ni Todoke does not produce a third season and this is the end then this ending is pretty bad but I don’t think rationally for this series and I just love it the way it is. You could say this is a guily-pleasure series in a way as I do see faults yet I could care less about it as I love it.

Verdict (for the episode): 8/10 (I’m pretty strict on intros and endings if you must ask which would reason out why I gave a 7 in the Katamoi episode and 8 on this episode when I’m blatantly praising it)

Rational rating:

Plot: 45/50 (Gets frustrating but in a good way and raging over characters because of what they’re doing have always been a plus for me. Plus Dáwww end result)

Characters: 17/20 (Kurumi, Kent, Pin and Joe. . . go die in hell)

Production: 20/20 (It’s IG after all. From directing, to animation, to beautiful watercolor backgrounds, this series looks great in my eyes.)

Overall feel: 9/10 (I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS SERIES. I can be a bit of a Shoujofag sometimes.)

Overall: 91/100 (A-, I recommend this to EVERYONE!)

*NOTE: I edited this. . .

Kimi no Strawberry Time

Yes this is what the whole episode’s about.

FINALLY AFTER EXACTLY 36 EPISODES AND 13 MINUTES AND 57 SECONDS, THE TWO ARE FINALLY DATING!!!

It feels like the author is relieving all the plans she has with the couple. All the fuwafuwa in her head. Where does it go from here. . . who cares I’m fulfilled.

Well there’s one more episode in my computer and I’m reluctant to play it just because it would be sad to finish this. After I’m done with Episode 12, its 99.9% sure to be in the Top 20.

Kimi ni Todoke S2 10

…Kimi ni Todoke…

After all those frustrations, those hatred, all those flaming, Kimi ni Todoke finally reaches the KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA part of the romance. Finally something’s happening and its happening quite faster than I expected. Its all “suki dayo” from now on. FINALLY! My 30+ episodes of waiting paid off. Our couple finally reached one another… and no annoying side characters to hamper it (Joe almost though-). This is turning out to be in LEGENDARY status.

Verdict:10/10

Greatest moment of Kimi ni Todoke

You have to watch it for yourself. Who knew that they would reach the “hug” stage?

Joe… heh.

This episode had so much awesome Sawako full blush moments. I’m definitely getting a higher resolution for some of these.

Verdict: 10/10 (*claps*)

PS. I got caught up with GE. Kurokawa’s getting cuter and cuter.

PSS. Pokemon Black and White is awesome. The pokemons look like digimons though… I think they’re losing originality on the design.

KIMI NI TODOKE S2 7- FULL OF FAILURES

AHHHHHH THEY CONFESSED TO EACH OTHER YET WHAT IS THIS?!!?!?!?!?!?!

THIS IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING SCENE EVER. I MEAN HOW MUCH DOES THIS SERIES TAKE THE LEVEL OF MISUNDERSTANDING!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!?

Kimi ni Todoke really levelled up on misunderstandings this episode. Kazehaya and Sawako are telling people got rejected. BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP I’V HEARD. CONFESSION WHERE BOTH GET REJECTED???? Only in Kimi ni Todoke folks. And its like an icing on the cake when Kazehaya hears Sawako say “You’re misunderstanding everything?”. YOU ARE MISUNDERSTANDING EVERYTHING SAWAKO. FUCK YOU KAZEHAYA. FUCK YOU KURUMI. FUCK YOU KENT. FUCK THIS SERIES.  No fuck you to Sawako though. Even in misunderstandings she remains adorable.

TELL HIM OFF YANO PLEASE. YOU’RE A CULPRIT OF THIS MESS MISTER FAILURE BISHOUNEN.

YOU ARE THE CULPRIT OF ALL THESE MISUNDERSTANDINGS THIS SEASON. GTFO PLEASE. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I MEAN IF SAWAKO JUST GAVE THAT CHOCOLATE ON VALENTINE’S DAY THEN SOMETHING GOOD WOULD’VE HAPPENED BY NOW.

EVERYONE LOVES KAZEHAYA. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LIKE HIM TOO MISTER FAILURE BISHOUNEN.

But aren’t you all outsiders?????

VERDICT: 9/10 (Frustration actually means good episode)
